Mission Statement:

The aim of our school is to provide a caring learning environment that facilitates the nurturing of each pupil’s full educational potential. The achievement of this
influences all of the planning processes and activities which occur in our school.
We aim to provide an environment:
➢ Where all the pupils will feel welcome and safe and secure in their environment.
➢ Where all pupils will develop a sense of pride in themselves and in their school.
➢ Where teachers, pupils and parents work together in a friendly and co-operative environment.
➢ Where pupils learn to respect and accept the needs, opinions and rights of their peers.
➢ That will help the child to live a full life as a child and to realise his/her potential as a unique individual.
➢ That will help the child to develop as a social being through living and cooperating with others.
➢ That prepares the child for further education and lifelong education.
➢ That will encourage them in the idea of being responsible

School Ethos:

Kilmurry NS, Cordal, Castleisland is a mixed national school, which operates under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Kerry. The school is committed to the aims and principles of the Primary School Curriculum.

Kilmurry NS welcomes diversity and strives for inclusivity. It is open to people of other denominations and other faiths, welcomes them into its community and respects their beliefs. The religious freedom and the personal conscience of individual students and their families is respected, and this freedom is explicitly recognised.

Kilmurry NS celebrates the uniqueness of each child as expressed in each child’s personality, intelligence and potential for development.  The school seeks to nurture the child in all dimensions of their life - spiritual, moral, cognitive, emotional, imaginative, aesthetic, social and physical.

In Kilmurry NS we seek to cherish and challenge children in a safe, secure and attractive learning environment.  We aim to provide quality learning experiences that are uplifting, enlightening, encouraging, enabling, engaging and enjoyable through a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum.

The school sees itself as an integral part of Castleisland Parish and, in partnership with parents and the church, seeks to nurture the Catholic faith through religious education, preparation for the sacraments and through the ethos of the school.  This ethos is best exemplified through the quality of all relationships in the school, which are based on respect and dignity for all– children, staff, ancillary staff, parents/guardians, parents association members, BOM members and visitors to the school.

Kilmurry NS reaches out to all with an invitation to build together a world founded on justice, truth and love.  In emphasising the values of community, justice, respect and forgiveness at Kilmurry NS we endeavour to help pupils grow in maturity and to take their place as responsible members of society.

Kilmurry NS seeks at all times, to be a warm and welcoming place, respectful and accommodating of diversity in race, culture, religion, gender and ability.  We aim to promote equality in all areas, and we strive to provide an inclusive learning environment responsive to the needs of all.
