Kilmurry NS was built in 1976. Its official Department of Education title is Scoil Mhuire B & C (Buachaillí agus Cailíní). It was built as a result of an amalgamation between three local schools, Glountaune, Reaglass and the old Kilmurry school.
Our present school under went major refurbishment in 2010,funded by the Department of Education. A new office and staffroom were added, along with a spacious corridor. There were also toilets built in each of the classrooms. The whole school received a modern make over, with interactive whiteboards in each of the class rooms.
Kilmurry NS is located four miles from the town of Castleisland, in Cordal.
The school is situated in the heart of the countryside with unspoilt scenic views. Its surroundings are steeped in history. To the rear of the school is Kilmurry House, also known locally as 'The Great House', which was built in the 17th century.
Also to the left of the school is the beautiful Kilmurry Castle which is said to date back to the 14th century.
